After reinstal, Windows hangs at activation

Problem: After clicking OK at this error message, nothing happens, Windows hangs at background screen

Problem was network switch which works fine with other PCs, however with this one it was not operative even though it looks like everything's ok with network (blinking at network card, connecting another PC). Windows do not offer user to see network status on PC, or workaround with this message (by unplugging network cable) thus user can't see that network card reports error because drivers list is unavailable. It seems that the card had problem with network speed in relation with the switch.

It was solved by simply connecting PC to another network switch.

Service pack 2 can't be installed

Problem: "The product key used to install Microsoft Windows may not be valid"

Place Windows CD with SP2 to boot and re-install Windows but without formating it!

It may report missing drivers' files but it will work nevertheless when it finish.

Services.msc access denied

Problem: Administative tools, services denied

Problem: There is an error message: "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt"

To rename MAPI32.DLL as suggested on first web search results didn't helped,
it helped to find and rename:
MSMAPI32.DLL

Rule in Outlook

Problem: There is an error message when applying rule in Outlook

Also, rule cannot be checked at all.
The Error message is:

One or more rules could not be uploaded to Exchange server and have been deactivated.

Solution:

Close outlook,

start - run -

 outlook /cleanrules

All present rules will be removed and rules will be set to default settings, which allow the following  rules to work.

Mail merge date format

Problem: Instead of EU date format(7.8.2009), US format appears (8/7/09)

In Word -

this option;  Confirm conversion at Open

it should be checked!
Then re-merge documents,

and during merge there will be options to choose -

OLE is US format
and DDE is the right format which should be checked during merge.

Previous documents which are already merged should be re-merged after the Conversion options is checked.

Windows hangs at shut down

Problem: How to shorten time-out for windows during shutting down

Regedit:

Windows installer appears everytime when Office is opened

Problem: After Office 2007 was removed and Office 2003 reinstalled, installer pops up

This didn't help: Group policy, msiexec command, reinstalling office.

When saving excel as DBF 3 (dBASE III) *.dbf, characters are missing

Problem: Some characters are missing in dbf file

It happens because when document in excel is saved (save as: DBF 3 (dBASE III) *.dbf) , there should be enough space in cells.

Later, if these data are imported in program such as print labels, characters will be missing because they are already missing in converted data from excel.

Delegates in Microsoft Outlook

Problem: Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location

Apart from adding delegates on main PC, and adding additional mailbox at the delegate(s),

there should be permissions granted at the main PC also!
Right click at Mailbox - Properties -

Add [name of delegate]

Permission level - select anything but none to work.

HP LaserJet M1522 scanner problem

Right click on start menu do not work

Toshiba laptop hangs after recovery

Problem: Toshiba freeze at "Applying final configuration"

Toshiba is at that stage already in Vista OS. The "Applying" screen can be minimized. It hangs here because Wireless mode was ON - it should be switched OFF and then restart laptop in order to continue installation. The switch is at the front side on the left, beneath "Satellite".

It will reinstal Intel PRO set where it got stuck, and continue with Nvidia, utility, camera etc with a few automatic restarts.

1508 error, No device manager listings, plug and play not working.

Problem: Network is down, usb stick is not working, device drivers do not appear.

It's a virus. In services.msc major services appeared disabled - they should be started and set to Automatic settings. Malware bytes scan removed the viruses.

Problem: After XP repair, there is an error 1324

User had made Program Files directory on D drive which was changed to E after repair XP.
Switching back to D solved this error.

In Services Plug and play is enabled and set to Automatic.

On the net, problem was described as "Device manager is empty",

Web n walk - device not found

Problem: Web n walk Software is installed but no icon in tray

When Web'n'walk shorcut is started it reports error Device not found/Uređaj nije nađen (HR). There was older software installed on computer (for an older web n walk model). It should be removed! If this new one was installed it should be removed also. And restarted.
Then, when all web n walk software us removed, this new one should be installed. Icon will not appear in the tray (as it did in older model), it will appear only on desktop as a shortcut.

PC restarts when AVI is started via VCL

Problem: Blue screen and atkdisp.dll when video is started appear when automatically reboot is unchecked
